Fascia
Installation

Protect your roofline. Finish it right.

What Is It

The board that ties your roofline together

Fascia is the vertical band of material that runs along the lower edge of your roofline — the board your gutters attach to. It covers and protects the ends of your roof rafters or trusses from the elements, and forms the horizontal trim that gives your roofline its finished, clean appearance.

Most homes were built with wood fascia, which eventually rots when exposed to Alberta's moisture and temperature swings. Shaam Gutters wraps your existing fascia board — or replaces it entirely — with formed aluminum that is permanently moisture-proof, never needs painting, and won't crack, split, or rot.

  • Aluminum wrapping over existing wood — or full replacement
  • Moisture-proof: no rot, no painting, no maintenance
  • Provides a solid attachment surface for gutter hangers
  • Available in colours to match your soffit and trim

Why It Matters in Alberta

Alberta's climate rots wood fascia fast

Alberta's freeze-thaw cycles are especially destructive to exposed wood. A chinook can swing temperatures from -20°C to +12°C in a matter of hours — this repeated expansion and contraction splits paint, opens grain, and allows moisture to penetrate. Over a few winters, wood fascia goes from painted and sound to cracked, soft, and rotten.

Rotted fascia is one of the most common causes of gutter failure — once the board behind the hanger softens, gutters pull away, sag, and separate. Water running behind a sagging gutter works directly against your siding and into your wall cavities. Aluminum fascia eliminates this entire failure chain.

  • Freeze-thaw cycles crack and rot wood fascia within years
  • Rotted fascia causes gutter sagging and separation
  • Water behind a failed gutter damages siding and wall structure
  • Aluminum wrapping is a permanent, maintenance-free solution
Key Benefits

Why aluminum fascia outlasts wood

Zero Rot Risk

Aluminum doesn't absorb moisture, expand, crack, or rot — ever. Once it's installed, you never have to think about your fascia again regardless of weather conditions.

No Maintenance

Wood fascia needs scraping, priming, and painting every few years to stay protected. Aluminum fascia is finished with baked enamel at the factory — no upkeep, ever.

Gutter Performance

Gutters are only as good as what they're attached to. Solid aluminum fascia gives every hanger a firm, lasting anchor — keeping your gutters properly pitched and draining for decades.

How It Works

Our fascia installation process

01

Inspect Rafter Ends

We inspect the wood behind your existing fascia for rot and structural damage. If rafter ends need repair before wrapping, we identify this at the estimate stage.

02

Remove & Prep

Old fascia or damaged boards are removed. The rafter ends are cleaned, squared off, and made ready for the new aluminum profile.

03

Install Aluminum Fascia

Custom-formed aluminum fascia is installed over the prepared surface, nailed securely through pre-formed flanges, and mitered neatly at all corners.

04

Fit Gutter Hangers

Gutter hanger brackets are attached through the fascia into solid rafter structure — correctly spaced and pitched to ensure your gutters drain properly for years.
