Proper ventilation. Complete protection.
Soffit is the panel material installed on the underside of your roof's overhang — the section of ceiling that extends past your exterior walls and covers the eaves. It closes the gap between the top of your exterior wall and the roof edge, giving your home a finished appearance while performing a critical function: ventilation.
Vented soffit panels contain small perforations that allow outside air to flow into your attic from the eaves. This continuous airflow works with your ridge vents to push heat and moisture out of the attic — preventing ice dams in winter and heat buildup in summer.
In Alberta, the temperature inside an unventilated attic can reach 65°C in summer — hot enough to cook the adhesive out of asphalt shingles and dramatically shorten their lifespan. In winter, warm air rising from your living space into a poorly ventilated attic melts the snow on your roof from beneath. That meltwater runs down and refreezes at the cold eave, forming an ice dam.
Properly installed vented soffit — combined with adequate ridge venting — creates the constant air exchange that keeps your attic temperature close to outdoor temperatures year-round. It's the single most effective measure for preventing ice dams and extending roof life in Alberta's climate.
Vented soffit keeps attic temperatures in balance with the outdoors, preventing the warm-roof conditions that cause snowmelt and ice dam formation at the eaves.
Rotted or missing soffit is how birds, wasps, bats, and squirrels get into your attic. New panels close every gap and give wildlife nowhere to enter.
Exposed, rotted, or mismatched soffit looks neglected and reduces curb appeal. New aluminum soffit gives your home a clean, uniform roofline that looks sharp for decades.
We inspect your existing soffit for rot, damage, and gaps — and check whether your attic ventilation setup would benefit from vented versus solid panels.
We measure all soffit runs and order the right panels in your chosen colour — vented where airflow is needed, solid elsewhere.
Old or damaged soffit is removed carefully, with care taken not to disturb any existing insulation or wiring in the eave space.
New panels are installed and secured, J-channels are fitted at the wall and fascia edges, and all joints are neatly finished before we clean up and leave.
